KAWS Dissected Milo was born out of a collaboration between the KAWS collector Nigo and his brand A Bathing Ape (or BAPE). The piece combines the signature elements of both entities into a single figure: BAPE’s Baby Milo and KAWS’ Dissected Companion.
The artwork depicts BAPE’s Baby Milo split into two halves, with each side showcasing KAWS’ signature anatomical aesthetic. The figure brings together several concepts in a relatively simple form: the ephemerality of life, the relationship between a brand and its creator, and the notion of inner division.
